A poster that I created for the National Parks Project's early Sneak Peak in Banff this past week.
In 1911, Parks Canada was founded, becoming the world’s first national parks service. On the eve of its centennial, FilmCAN and Primitive Entertainment, in conjunction with Parks Canada and Discovery Canada, are pleased to present The National Parks Project (NPP), a collaborative film, music, television and new media project that features contributions by more than 50 of Canada’s most acclaimed filmmakers and musicians.
In the tradition of the Group of Seven, Margaret Atwood’s Survival and other cultural touchstones, the National Parks Project aims to explore the elemental ways in which Canada’s cultural imagination is shaped by the wilderness that defines our identity, and the technologies that inform our day-to-day lives. From May to October, 2010, the project will send groups comprised of one filmmaker and three musicians to a park in each province and territory, to collaborate on a short film and soundtrack that reflects their experience of the landscape.
The result will be a collection of 13 films that showcases both the country’s natural diversity and the breadth of its artistic talent, and celebrates thespirit of creative collaboration. The complete collection will be distributed theatrically, through film festivals and special screening events, and will ultimately be available online via an immersive interactive piece. The project will also be featured in a thirteen-part documentary series, airing on Discovery World HD in Spring 2011.

Woodpile Street Art Documentary
Syd at Grounded TV http://www.getgrounded.tv/ shot a short doc with my painting collective "The Woodpile" a little while back. It's finished and up on the site. Turned out really nice, thanks for the hard work Syd.

Sunday Chores
Morning comes early when the night goes long...but this is how it goes when the shit gets done!
Caught the first rays of sun yesterday morning with the Woodpile Collective and Syd Woodward of Grounded TV. Hung some Art drops around town. More pics on the Woodpile site and look for a short doc on Grounded TV in the next while.

Look Forward to the Past
I don't usually post other people's work on here, as this is more of a folio blog than a traditional blog but I like to think this desktop image courtesy of Randy Laybourne might be my new design mantra. Check out more of his Daily Desktops and other super cool artwork at: http://www.lookforwardtothepast.com/

Raw Panels
White Ink Silkscreen
Screen on the vacuum table
Aerosol between layers
Joey at Olio asked if I would contribute a poster design to this years Livestock poster show which celebrates some of the participating acts of the Rifflandia Music Festival. I was fortunate enough to choose the musician that I wanted to represent (Tommy Guerrero) How sweet is that? I helped print my poster design which was a 5 colour print on Birch panel. I had some fun customizing each print with aerosol and even a little fire (see video). We printed a series of 50. My print as well 12 other artists prints are for sale and on display at Olio in Victoria. Tommy is performing as part of Rifflandia at Phillips Brewing company on Friday Sept. 24th. Stoked to see him play.

Dirty Crossroads Box Guitar
Made this lap slide guitar from left over screenprinted plywood panels from a past project. Fun to make art into music. I think I might experiment some more with this stuff.

Oakley X El Kartel
Artist series custom Oakley sunglasses. Made mine look like worm eaten driftwood. Turned out pretty good. I have a difficult time with the whole "take commercial product A. and turn it into art object B." I usually dread working on this kind of thing, but this one was fun...and El Kartel is the shit!
